About the role:
The Key Worker will work in the local community to identify potential participants using a person-centred approach to help and support unemployed and economically inactive people in North Yorkshire into good and sustained employment. The Key Worker will promote the programme to potential referral organisations, stakeholders, employers, and individuals and will manage and support a caseload of participants to address and remove barriers to employment once they have successfully joined the programme.
The participants may have disabilities, complex needs and/or challenging circumstances. Support delivered to participants will be of the highest standards, ensuring each participant has the opportunity to address and overcome barriers to employment. This will include (although not limited to) supporting individuals with their health and general wellbeing, assessing their job readiness, offering support and guidance, both pre-employment and whilst in work, boosting confidence and motivation, improving employability skills and signposting to partner organisations as appropriate.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the employability sector, in a target driven environment and will be able to demonstrate success in engaging and motivating others. Required criteria:
• Experience of engaging and supporting unemployed and/or economically inactive individuals with complex needs which could include mild to moderate mental health, mobility and/or muscular skeletal conditions
• Experience of supporting participants with their health and general wellbeing
• Experience providing employment coaching, including careers guidance, CV building, interview technique and job brokerage.
• Ability to boost participants confidence, motivate, encourage, and influence others.
• Establish and deliver both one-to-one and group activities, including initial assessments, employability skills coaching, job search sessions, and follow-up appointments.
• Source job opportunities for participants through tailored job search and regular contact with local employers to explore hidden as well as advertised employment opportunities.
• Engage with partners and stakeholders to actively promote the programme and service offer to generate participant referrals
• Experience of working in a performance target driven environment
• Excellent rapport-building skills, professional demeanour, and good communication skills.
• Well-developed IT skills, including management information (MI) systems, Excel, Word PowerPoint etc., diary management, and data security.
• Possess excellent organisational skills, being able to prioritise workloads and work to deadlines.
• Report any concerns related to the safeguarding of individuals.
Desirable criteria:
• Demonstratable experience working with individuals with diverse barriers.
• Knowledge of the local labour market, and local employability and skills networks.
• Knowledge of welfare/benefits system.
• Hold full UK driving license and have access to a vehicle.

• To develop and nurture strong supportive relationships with participants, ensuring they achieve their goals and objectives.
• Ability to plan ahead, identify risk, and apply improvement actions quickly and effectively.
• Ability to work autonomously as required and demonstrate self-motivation.
Quality and Continuous Improvement
• To maintain accurate participant records to ensure audit and quality assurance that meets the needs of the contract and that of Triage.
• Maintain the highest standards of participant care, at all times.
• Embrace a culture of continuous improvement and openly share and promote best practice between colleagues and partners, striving for excellence across all areas of delivery.
People Motivation, Coaching and Development
• To effectively communicate the benefits of the programme and tailor the programme to ensure the service is person centred.
• To identify vacancy and training opportunities, working closely with participants to meet their specific needs.
• To motivate, inspire and focus participants to positively engage in personal action planning to create a progressive plan towards work.
• To provide advice, guidance and support to participants in their transition from benefits to employment.
• To provide advice and support to those who move into work by working closely with individuals, employers and external funding support organisations such as Access to Work to ensure they receive tailored support with the fundamental goal of sustaining employment.
• Possess a true passion for supporting and positively impacting the lives of others.
• You will be comfortable supporting a diverse range of individuals on a one-to-one basis or in groups and have very strong engagement and communication skills.
